Breakthrough in the practice of the Company Register: Capital increase using an EU bank account

Our team has successfully completed the registration of a capital increase for a Bulgarian company operating, where the capital contribution was made through a bank account held with a licensed credit institution in the European Union, opened outside the Republic of Bulgaria.

Until now, in practice, the Bulgarian Commercial Register had been accepting capital contributions only through bank accounts opened with Bulgarian banks, which created real challenges for companies operating in regulated and high-risk sectors.

This case demonstrates the practical applicability of the European regulatory framework and shows that the practice of the Commercial Register is beginning to evolve and adapt to the realities of the EU single market and modern financial services.

Although this practice is still in the process of being established, the decision opens a real opportunity for Bulgarian companies to rely on EU fintech solutions, including Revolut, in proceedings before the Commercial Register.
